Pictures in the Mind

I have been practising using words that give readers pictures in their minds.
Yesterday it was Athletics Day.
First, the Year 4s did the high jump and we had to sign ourselves up to do the event.
Next, we had to line up in a straight line at the high jump and I felt nervous. First we did a practice jump. I jumped as high as a kangaroo jumping on a bouncing hippopotamus’ tummy. Some Year 4s didn’t jump properly because they didn’t scissors-kick and, after our jumps, I got nervous because the bar was black and orange and went up. The pole wasn’t that high though so I wasn’t that nervous then. All the eight year old boys made the bar fall off. It was only Joshua, Antony and me. Antony hit the bar. Now it was Joshua and me. I didn’t know who would win the high jump. I did my last jump over the black and orange bar then I Jumped as high as a frog jumping on lilypads but Joshua ran and jumped. He didn’t make it over the bar and he got another try but he didn’t make it again. I won but Antony and Joshua got another two tries and Joshua came 3rd, Antony came 2nd and I came 1st .

Holy Week

On Palm Sunday, Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey. All the people were waving palms and shouting Hosanna. Every one was happy to see Jesus.
On Holy Thursday, it was the Last Supper.  They ate the bread and drank the wine.
On Good Friday, Jesus had to hold the cross. Sometimes Jesus fell over. Then Jesus died on the cross.
Mary took Jesus down from the cross and put him in a rock with a boulder in front.

Elgrego's Magic Show

Yesterday, the whole school and I went to the hall to watch Elgrego's magic show.
When  we were ready, Elgrego began his magic by making birds appear. First, Elgrego put three birds in a cage then he put a cloth on top then he took it off. The birds turned into a big rabbit.
Next, Elgrego performed a magic trick with fizzy raspberry drink. He poured the fizzy drink into a plastic cup. He got an ups-and- downs box. He put the raspberry fizzy drink into the box. He turned the box around and around then he opened the lid. The drink hadn't spilt.
After the drink trick, we watched Elgrego talk with Seemore, the baby green dinosaurSeemore gets bullied by other dinosaurs because he's green. Seemore lives in a yellow egg. Elgrego was being a ventriloquist. Seemore sang The Rainbow Song from the Muppets.
Finally, Elgrego did the trick of walking through a brick wall.

My Dad is the Best

Dad made a hut. He made a table next to the back door. He made some drawers for Amaya. Dad is really good at building stuff.
Dad buys me toys. He buys food – any food.
Dad is fixing our computer. He looks after us on the weekends.
Dad made a little bar in the garage so we can have a party. He once bought us McDonalds when he looked after us. He bought us lollies at the candy shop in Napier.

My Wonderful Mother

My mother is wonderful because she buys me stuff.
She buys me lego, cars and army toys to keep. She buys me new clothes for me to wear on special days. She buys me heaps of stuff to do.
My mother is wonderful because she sometimes takes us to the park to play on the playground.
My mother is wonderful because she makes lasagne - she takes her time and it tastes really yum.
My mother is wonderful because she invites my cousins over and when people come we always do really cool stuff like going to Rainbow’s End.

Game

Yesterday at school, Alex, Jackson and I went to my house.
When we got to my house, I got all my guns out of my bedroom and played with them. We all went out side first. We had to go to the tree hut then we went down the slide. There were two teams. My team's base was in the tree hut. The other base was next to the house. My team had to shoot the other team. Not all the guns made a sound. All of us had to make our own sound. My team won the battle.

Swimming Sports

Yesterday, it was Swimming Sports. The whole school was there. It was at Ngaruawahia pools.
When the whole school got there, I had to go to my first event which was eight year old boys free-style width. When I looked at the water, it was saying, “Come in , come in. I am as cold as an ice block. I will cool you down.” I was nervous. Mr Emms blew the whistle really loudly and we jumped into the water. It was ice cold when I got in. Mr Emms blew the whistle again. We were off! I was coming third but then I got bumped and I came fourth. I felt really good and the water said, ”Good job, Xavier.”

Shrove Tuesday

Today is Shrove Tuesday. This morning, we burnt last year's Palm Sunday palms to ash, so Father Keane can use them on Ash Wednesday when he makes the Sign of the Cross on our forehead and reminds us to follow Jesus.
After swimming, Olivina came over to talk about Tonga. Tonga is a very poor country. The people in Tonga raise pigs to eat or sell. They sell pigs for money to buy food and school uniforms and to pay school fees.

Waitangi Day

Waitangi Day is the day NZ became a nation known as New Zealand. It is a day all New Zealanders have a holiday. New Zealanders celebrate when the Treaty of Waitangi was signed.
It was signed by 500 Maori Chiefs and representatives of the Queen in 1840, February the 6th.
On Waitangi Day, this year, I played on my Play Station.  I played some of my games. When I finished my game, I  went to my bedroom to play with my toys. I played with my army men.
A little while after I played with my toys, I went to ask Tiaan if I could play on his Xbox360.
I played some of his games on his Xbox 360 then my dad came over for dinner.
After my dad was here, I wanted to watch TV. I watched a few shows on my TV.
After that, we watched more shows.
After I watched TV, I went on the computer. I played heaps of games on the computer.
