I have been practising using words that give readers pictures in their minds.
Yesterday it was Athletics Day.
First, the Year 4s did the high jump and we had to sign ourselves up to do the event. Next, we had to line up in a straight line at the high jump and I felt nervous. First we did a practice jump. I jumped as high as a kangaroo jumping on a bouncing hippopotamus’ tummy. Some Year 4s didn’t jump properly because they didn’t scissors-kick and, after our jumps, I got nervous because the bar was black and orange and went up. The pole wasn’t that high though so I wasn’t that nervous then. All the eight year old boys made the bar fall off. It was only Joshua, Antony and me. Antony hit the bar. Now it was Joshua and me. I didn’t know who would win the high jump. I did my last jump over the black and orange bar then I Jumped as high as a frog jumping on lilypads but Joshua ran and jumped. He didn’t make it over the bar and he got another try but he didn’t make it again. I won but Antony and Joshua got another two tries and Joshua came 3rd, Antony came 2nd and I came 1st .
